Sean Ryan - 5 Months!

Five months has flown by!  I'm pretty sure that time is going much faster with two kids, more now than ever.  Sean is getting so big!  He's just about to 22 lbs, which means we need to move him out of his infant carseat.  Julia was in that same car seat until she was almost a year old!  Anyway, the photos is kind of hard to make out, so here are the milestones I noted:

• Rolling everywhere
• Plays with his toes...all the time
• First trip to Oregon
• Outgrew his infant car seat
• Laughs at everything Julia does!  (he also smiles at everyone he meets, he's one happy kiddo!)

A visit with Gramma Bryant

 

We had a great time in Oregon!!  Our main reason for this trip was so Tom could go hunting with his family.  It was a successful hunt, and while he was away, I got to spend some time with my family too.  My Aunt Olivia came out for a few days, and it was so great to spend time with her and get to her more.  I also had fun with my sister and niece and nephew.  Julia had a blast playing with them too!  She really is getting so attached to everyone in our families.  It's nice to see that even though we live far away and only see everyone maybe twice a year, she stills bonds with them.  I have more photos from our phones I'll have to post later.

Baby Bibs

We suspect Sean is teething, since he's constantly drooling and I have to change his shirts often!  I finally decided to make up some simple bibs for him with flannel I already had.  I did have to get some snaps/snap pliers, but found some really cute ones at Joanns.  So far, they're working alright, but get soaked through fast, so I'll probably make some more that have an additional layer or two of flannel in the middle.

I can't believe how fast the time has gone by!  Sometimes I still think of Sean as a brand new baby, but then when I watch him playing I realize he is getting so big so fast, and discovering the world around him.  He is so in love with Julia, sometimes I get overwhelmed watching them interact.  He grins and gets exscited when he sees her, and she's always comforting and talking with him (I hear myself in her when she's talking with him!).  He's been grabbing at everything, and especially likes feeling cold drinks, which is something Julia always did too.  He loves hanging out on the floor on a blankie, just watching everything that's going on around him.

I finally finished my Kumari Gardens quilt!  I ended up just doing straight quilting, with the lines about an inch apart.  My machine has a "hand quilt" stitch that looks really nice, so that's what I used.  It's currently on our bed, more for decoration, since it's still very hot here!

Quilting design I wanted to use

This quilt...I've had several frustrations over it, but I'm at the point where I just want to get it done.  I picked out the fabric last year, and didn't plan out the quilt until this spring.  I'm to the point where I can quilt it, but the design I started out with is actually more difficult to do than I thought (I can't keep it straight...), so I'm ripping out what I already did and starting over with just straight lines about an inch apart.  Hopefully, I'll have a completed quilt by the end of summer!
