Quilt for Hannah

This is the finished quilt for our niece, Hannah Joy! It's only my second quilt, and really, only the first I've totally finished myself.

Julia's Growing Up...

Julia's been growing up so fast lately, mostly in the form of all the new words she says! Here's a few of them:
  • Stuck ("I stuck!")
  • Potty
  • Apple (she calls the pumpkins "apples"!!!)
  • Two (when we count that's the only number she says, hehe)
  • Back (as in "Daddy will be right back....")
  • Cup
  • Snack
  • Please
  • Up
  • Help
  • Papa (we're working on all the family members' names...)
  • Hannah (sounds more like "nana")
  • Monkey (along with all the monkey sounds and actions!!)
  • Cookie (for Cookie Monster)
  • Teeth
  • Eat
  • Duck
  • Down
  • Baby
  • Icky
  • Poo

Happy Halloween!

This was our first year "celebrating" Halloween in a long time! Tom and I carved pumpkins (mine was supposed to be a monkey, and his was a basic jack-o-lantern), and we took Julia around on base for trick or treating. We went to about 10 houses just in our neighborhood, but it was fun seeing all the other families out there! Julia wasn't too interested in her candy though, so Tom and I are taking care of it for her :).

Allergic Reaction

A couple weeks ago we took Julia in for a regular check-up, plus to get a cough checked out, and it turned out that she had an ear infection. The doctor prescribed amoxicillin for her, and about a week into the medication, she broke out in a rash all over her body. Of course, this happened over a long weekend, so we had to wait about 3 days before we could take her back to the doctor. I did suspect it was the amoxicillin, but we were unsure about it, since it took so long for a reaction to show up. The doctor agreed with me that it was the amoxicillin, and after a couple more days the rash cleared up and she was feeling better. Other than not sleeping well, Julia really was a trooper through it all!

Air Force Ball

Tom and I went to the Air Force Ball this year, and had a blast! It was much better than last year's, especially when it came to the food. Julia was babysat by a co-worker of mine, and also did a lot better being away from us, than she did last year :). This was our first date in about 10 months, and it was SO refreshing, even if it was an official function!!

Happy Birthday Thomas!!

We celebrated Tom's birthday in a low-key fashion, as is typical for our family :). We tried out a restaraunt downtown that we hadn't been to together before, and it was really good! I, of course, made him a cheesecake as well! Here's to many more happy years... :D.

  • Jumping!
  • Winking (she closes both eye really tight)
  • Eskimo kisses
  • Butterfly kisses
  • She can put her shoes and socks on!
  • She asks to walk more when we're outside
